What should I do if my boiler stops working?

First, check three things: (1) Is your thermostat set above room temperature? (2) Is the boiler pressure between 1 and 1.5 bar? If it's below 1, repressure using the filling loop. It's usually a silver braided hose or tap underneath the boiler. (3) Has the boiler's fuse or circuit breaker tripped? Check your fuse box. If none of that helps, there's a full troubleshooting guide at gaschampion.co.uk/boiler-not-working. If you smell gas, call 0800 111 999 (National Gas Emergency Service) immediately.

How often should I service my boiler?

Once a year, by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Annual servicing keeps your boiler safe, running efficiently, and maintains your manufacturer's warranty. Boiler services are generally £125 including VAT, with the current live price shown in the booking system. Back boilers, gas fires, cookers and other appliances can have different charges and durations.

What happens if my boiler breaks down?

Book a diagnosis/repair visit online. The current price is shown before booking and is presently £125 including VAT. The visit includes the initial 90 minutes onsite to diagnose the fault and make any repairs possible during that appointment window. If parts, materials or further works are required, a quotation is issued for approval before any further chargeable work is undertaken.

What areas do you cover?

Gas Champion Ltd covers 14 named areas across Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, including Haverhill, Kedington, Steeple Bumpstead, Linton, Clare, Saffron Walden, Great Yeldham, Great Chesterford, Sawston, Halstead, Newmarket, Sudbury, Cambridge South and Bury St Edmunds. Natural gas heating systems only. Oil and LPG are not covered.

What payment methods do you accept?

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and bank transfer. All online bookings are paid upfront at the point of booking. If additional parts, materials or further works are needed, they are quoted before any further chargeable work proceeds.

Are you insured?

Yes. Gas Champion Ltd is fully insured with public liability insurance, DBS checked, and Gas Safe registered (#636427). You can verify the registration at gassaferegister.co.uk.

What happens after I book?

You'll get an instant confirmation with your appointment details. On the day, you'll get a 2-hour arrival window so you're not waiting around all day. When I'm on my way, you'll receive a message with a live tracking link. After the work is done, certificates and reports are issued digitally where applicable.

How does a diagnosis/repair visit work?

A diagnosis/repair visit is for when something is wrong. It currently costs £125 including VAT, with the live price shown before booking, and includes the initial 90 minutes onsite. I diagnose the issue and complete any repairs possible in that window. If parts, materials or further work are needed, I send a quotation before any further chargeable work is carried out.

How do boiler replacement estimates work?

Boiler replacements usually start with an estimate bracket based on a few questions and photos. I then advise on the right options for your water chemistry, household requirements, space and clearances, warranty length and budget. Straightforward jobs may move to a fixed price from that process. More complex jobs may need a £125 site survey, which is discounted from the final bill if you proceed with the installation through Gas Champion.

Do you take deposits for boiler installations?

Yes. Once a fixed price installation quotation is accepted, a deposit is taken so materials can be secured ready for the installation date. The final balance is due on completion after commissioning, Gas Safe notification, manufacturer warranty registration and local building control notification where applicable.

Do you offer monthly boiler service plans?

Yes. Gas Champion offers monthly service plan options with varying levels of inclusions, preventative maintenance actions and extra benefits to suit different needs and budgets.

Do you do gas checks for people buying or selling a home?

Yes. I offer gas safety checks and boiler assessments for home sellers and buyers. If a solicitor or buyer has asked for boiler installation certificates, Building Regulations compliance certificates, service history, or a current gas safety record as part of the TA6 Property Information Form, conveyancing enquiries, sale pack or Home Information Pack searches, I can inspect the boiler and gas appliances and provide clear digital paperwork. It can also help buyers understand whether the existing boiler or heating system may need repairs, updates or safety work.

Do you maintain boilers in new-build homes?

Yes. I am very experienced with new-build home boilers, especially Ideal Logic combi, system and heat-only models. I regularly carry out proactive maintenance, repairs and full strip cleans where construction dust or burner/venturi/injector blockages cause noisy ignition, delayed ignition, banging ignition, or LF/FL fault codes.
